A pool lay five minutes away through some woods, toward the valley. It isn’t possible to imagine how brilliant this place must have been centuries ago. At the entrance to our room, trees bore ripe cherries. Alessandro plucked one off a branch and popped it into his mouth. He told us to feel free to eat these organic cherries and make ourselves at home.
